This page collects the pages that work for both: the biggest, simplest toddler pages, and the easiest preschool pages, which add one clear subject with a few large details. Reading a three-year-old's coloring
Around three, the grip moves from the fist toward the fingers, and the movement moves from the shoulder toward the wrist. You will see the first attempts to stay inside a shape, usually by coloring the middle and leaving the edges. That is exactly what a thick outline is for: the wide border is easy to see and easy to stop at, and the wobble near it does not spoil the picture.
Three-year-olds also start to name what they are coloring and to have opinions about the color. A cow page becomes a conversation about spots, milk and the sound a cow makes. That talk is worth more than the neatness of the coloring.
Which pages to print first
If your child mostly scribbles, begin with Shapes in Everyday Objects and Fruits: one big shape, one obvious color. If they are already aiming for the lines, go to Farm Animals and Pets, where each animal is a single large figure with a face and a few details to fill separately.
Skip the letter and number pages for now unless your child asks for them; they come into their own at four and five. The pages for 4 year olds continue from here.

Questions parents and teachers ask
Should a 3 year old color inside the lines?
Sometimes, and not on purpose yet. Most three-year-olds can slow down at a thick line but cannot follow a thin one. Our pages use outlines of 5 to 10 points so the line is easy to see and easy to stop at. Praise the trying, not the result.
What are the easiest coloring pages for a 3 year old?
The toddler-tier pages at the top of this list: one shape per page with nothing else on it. Basic Shapes, Fruits and Shapes in Everyday Objects are the simplest sets on the site. Farm Animals and Pets are the next step up.
Crayons or markers at three?
Both work. Regular crayons build hand strength; washable markers give a satisfying bold color with little effort. A mix in the same session is fine. Avoid pencils, which need more pressure than most three-year-olds have.
How many pages should I print?
One or two at a time. A three-year-old's attention is five to ten minutes. Keep the rest of the set for another day; a fresh page is more exciting than a stack.
